Chembra--The Dream Trek!!

Disclaimer:No rules of vocabulary or grammar followed..The time entries are seriously flawed..The language is raw..The blog below is meant for pure entertainment..Sentences are aimed at attacking the very semblance of every individual who made it in and out of the trip successfully!!

Hey Folks

Did I just mention that it was a dream trek??!!Well..it was mostly otherwise for me;P
I mean what would you call a trek when you land back with an aching ass ,a leech-bitten ankle and a zombie look?
Eureka!!
Might sound like a total contradiction but yes,it was exactly what we experienced last saturday when we conquered the Chembra Peak<halfway actually due to time lines we had to keep up with!!>

Tracing back a few days..It all started with a mail chain...Oct 2nd Trip to Wayanad was the Subject-line.Unbeatable hype created by Sundeep<famously known as the guy in the pink lungi..suits him in a funny way sorts;P>,it brought together musicians,guitarists,singers,photographers<2 of 13 possessed most of these talents..but what's there in just saying?>.The gang which had come together were about to create havoc..The HOW of it later in the blog:)
<Excuse the smileys because you might encounter too many in the forthcoming sentences;)It sort of redefines me>

1st Oct Friday Night, around 9 PM--Ganging up at Sreehari's place just next to office<I often wonder how people choose to stay so close to office..its creepy..but just a passing thought..huh;)>
All the lazy bums made it successfully barring a few, otherwise called partypoopers/trip dropouts..Ayodhya issue being the alibi for some of them!!
Had a quick munch on veg and non-veg starters to kick start the journey---was gonna be a nocturnal one..wooooooooooooooooooo..the very thought of it was hair-raising!!
Oh by the way,Rashmi and I created quite a hullaballoo about not having guitars on the trip and it was decided that we would pick it up from John's sister's place on our way to Wayanad.
We felt like school kids<atleast I did;P> when the bus appeared and jumped into it to acquire seats as per our preference.
Before we knew,we were on our way to create history...
We reached John's sister's place and were lovingly welcomed with tomato soup..She and John's bro-in-law were so warm and welcoming,it felt awesome. After this quick halt<definitely not how it was supposed to be>,we boarded the bus.
Little did we know that by the end of the journey the unknown faces would be not just familiar but desktop backgrounds!!The HOW of it later;)
Around 11 PM:-
The transition from "chilled out" to "crazy" to "cranky"was smooth..
Began with subtle intros to each other..a little initial flattery<to get the guitars strumming and interaction brewing>..
Soon, there was music like never before..Ajesh<the overhyped guy who lived up quite beyond the expectations we had of him..the HOW of it later> and John played the guitar like pros and we nightingales<pun intended> did not miss the opportunity of lending our mellifluous voices to the tunes emanating from the instrument.
Around 5 AM in the Morning:-
Well..ahem...it was not quite a usual morning at 5.Ajesh who sat next to me had wanted to sleep for a while after continuous jamming with John but some nuisance had kept him real awake<the WHO of it later;)>The bus stops in the middle of the jungle roads somewhere..for some reason.. didn't bother to find out as I was snoring away to glory..But,I see someone prowling into the roadside..Wait!!Is it a lion??A lion with a guitar and a mouth organ is not what you expect..even in your nightmares...It was John.. of course..strange and happy guy:)
We had the others--Sundeep<Taklu and the biggesst showstopper on the trip>,Sreehari<Lost-in-his-own-thoughts guy>,Johnie<Cute smile guy>,Arjun<Happy-go-Lucky guy>,Shourjya<ComedyCircus>,Srishty<ProfilePicGal>,Hari<LastMomentEntry>,Niranjan<TollywoodHunk>,Umesh<the MasterBlaster> took turns to sleep but Rashmi<the gal with superpowers> preferred to stay awake and exercise her WAKE UP powers on the rest who were trying to get an ounce of the sleep;PJust jokiiiiiingggg..
Around 9 AM Saturday:-
Reached the beautiful Rainbow villa..and first time we stood and watched in awe--the scenery created as if by a stroke of the paintbrush by God himself..The lush green trees striking perfect permutations and combinations with the even greener valleys..Ahh..it was breathtaking!!
We had set foot in God's Own Country--Kerala!!
11 AM:-
Ready for the D-Day!!Our trek to Chembra Peak began:)
Paid a refundable amount for the bottles we were supposed to carry as the authorities did not want us to litter the place.Eco-friendly thought.Lovely scenery..The valleys traversing each other in a spectacular manner. But,let me remind everybody about HOW I landed up like a zombie..This is HOW!!It was my first trek and also my first encounter with a certain insect by name LEECH..God only knows what was wrong with it..It wanted to suck blood..bloody @#$^%@#$...Ajesh and Arjun were my lifeboats,,,they almost carried me both uphill and downhill..God bless them..I was on high doses of glucose and water till we reached the most beautiful lake..more so as it was in the shape of a heart!!Picturesque..Ajesh couldn't resist the beauty of this place..he had to capture these dream sequences with his some-mm camera which is definitely a boon to mankind!!Some daredevils a.k.a Hari,John,Ummi, etc made it to a higher peak while we delved in the pleasures of nature around the heart lake.
After snacking and munching on chips and biscuits, we headed back as the rain grew stronger. Not an iota of sunlight..The weather was apt for trekking. My memory evades me as far as the rest of the journey was concerned apart from how I held back most of my friends as I felt weak in my toes:(..Muddy and leech-bitten,we returned to our bus.
We reached and I made it to our cottage room somehow.I slept..is what I thought!!But,I was conveniently woken up to chicken/fish/omelet..some yummy dinner which was irresistible. And then there was music..I came to the balcony and was subjected to four shirtless men dancing to Ringa-Ringa,a popular tamil number.Hmm...It was an enjoyable sight;)Soon, half of us decided to call it a day but Niranjan and crew were unstoppable..High on drinks, they sure were flying..which might look like dancing to the spectators:)
It was decided by Ajesh,Shristy,Shourjya,Hari and I to take a stroll early in the morning to do a small recce around the place before moving to the next destination on our agenda!
Early next morning around 6 AM:-
Four Sherlock Holmes on the move;)We were trying to find a certain pond/spring which was vaguely mentioned by the owner of the villa we were staying at..Gee hee..It was a tiny spring but a good one..We had real fun and boasted of waking up early in the team and having discovered it!!Took pictures also..
Breakfast was ready..Idli and some dish<can't remember:(> with a delicious curry of which Rashmi took three servings. Then,we were back in our bus trying to acquire seats and headed towards a certain bridge<guys refresh my memory on this please..>..A serene ,cool embankment with a lovely park and icecreams to cool us further...The boat ride was the highlight of the day!!Ah!what a ride it was...a photographer's paradise...Everybody fought to share Ajesh's boat so that they could have the photographs taken..didn't I mention we were running for next year's fashion week!!Soon after this sauna boat ride,we moved back to the bus for a leisurely return trip back to Bangalore..
We had a lovely lunch at this hotel <again..cant remember the name..:P.>on our way back..
The shadows of the trees made a tryst with us every now and then with the sun rays peeking through as evening set in..Kerala,truly God's own country!!
The evening set the desires of our photographers, Niranjan and Ajesh on fire..To capture the wild boars, monkeys and elephants on camera suddenly seemed to be the most exciting thing on earth!!We did encounter some of the not so nice photographers who tried to scare the animals away with their camera flashes...
We had couple of games<introduced by me on a serious note> and made a complete mockery of by Sundeep:P Enjoyable anyhow...
On our way back we halted in a sort of a Sports Club cum pub which was exclusive..Bowling,billiards,car racing...to contribute to our adrenaline rush..winding up with dinner right there...Oh!forgot to mention..it started pouring..but all of this only added to the fun we were already having despite our fatigue..
Are you guessing this is how it ended..well not really...we did stop again at the legedary highway cafe coffee day to call it quits...phewww!!

All in all...a trip to remember:):)
